General Colin Powell’s Daughter Guest Stars on Madam Secretary

Linda Powell, the daughter of General Colin Powell, will guest star in the sixth season premiere of Madam Secretary.

Powell will play an FBI director in the episode. She follows in the footsteps of her father, who appeared in the fifth season premiere of the CBS drama alongside Hillary Clinton and Madeleine Albright.

Concert a Success

The Film and TV music concert “Hollywood Favorites: Behind the Music,” conducted by Angel Velez on April 6th, 2019, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra was a huge success! Alan Derian’s music from season two, episode seven of Madam Secretary, titled “Reopening the Cuban Embassy,” was performed in a program that included music by John Williams, Nathan Barr, Kris Bowers, Jeff Cardoni, John Debney, Germaine Franco, Michael Giacchino, Ludwig Gorranson, Alexandra Harwood, Justin Hurwitz, Conrad Pope, Jeff Russo, and Kevin Kiner.

Dirty Bomb selected for the Dances with Films Festival

Director Valerie MacCaffrey’s film “Dirty Bomb” will be in the Dances with Film festival in June. The film, scored by Alan Derian, recounts the story of the concentration camp prisoners used by Hitler to build the V-2 rockets, and the courageous Jewish prisoners that sabotaged the construction of the rockets and were ultimately killed for their actions.

Alan Derian begins composing for Beyond the Raging Sea

Alan Derian has begun working with George Acogny on the feature documentary “Beyond the Raging Sea.” The film details Omar Nour and Omar Samra’s efforts to bring attention to the dangers of refugees escaping their countries by sea, by entering in a open sea race, only to find themselves in a life of death struggle themselves.

Madam Secretary Goes Green

Madam Secretary’s New York based production has gone green. Watch as Lori McCreary, Eric Stoltz, Tim Daly and others talk about their participation in the PGA’s program to make their entire production more sustainable and ECO friendly. Alan Derian has begun writing music for the hit CBS drama “Madam Secretary” starring Tea Leoni, Tim Daily and Keith Carradine. Alan was brought in for the second season to work alongside the Transcenders who have been scoring the show since the first season. “Madam Secretary” airs 8 pm on Sunday nights.

Composing Begins on 2nd Season of Years of Living Dangerously

Alan Derian is currently helping Richard Marvin with the composing duties on the second season of the climate change documentary “Years of Living Dangerously.” Airing on NatGeo, the series sees Arnold Schwarzenegger, Don Cheadle, Harrison Ford, Jessica Alba, Matt Damon, Olivia Munn, Jack Black, David Letterman, Sigourney Weaver, and Bradley Whitford, all contributing their time and talents to bring this issue to the forefront.

Alan Derian begins composing for Monk Comes Down the Mountain.

Alan Derian has begun working with George Acogny on the feature film “Monk Comes Down the Mountain.” From the acclaimed director of Farewell My Concubine, Kaige Chen, comes a martial-arts caper about a young monk who embarks on an adventurous journey after being kicked out of his monastery. As he faces the trials, tribulations and seduction of the real world for the first time, he encounters many masters along the way. Boss Zha (Chang Chen, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), an opera singer with a knack for spears as well as Zhou Xiyu (Asian pop superstar, Aaron Kwok), a broom wielding Taoist. The movie is based on Xu Haofeng’s novel by the same name.

“Beneath the Blue,” which stars David Keith (An Officer and a Gentleman, Behind Enemy Lines), Michael Ironside (Starship Troopers, Total Recall) and George Harris (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). Paul Wesley (Fallen, Vampire Diaries) and Caitlin Wachs (Thirteen Days, Commander in Chief) had its red carpet premiere at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood, California. “Beneath the Blue” is the sequel to “Eye of the Dolphin” which Alan Derian scored in 2007.

Based on a 2007 media circus surrounding teenage girls in Glouchester, Massaschusetts who agreed to get pregnant together, “The Pregnancy Pact” premiered on the Lifetime TV channel, January 23rd at 9 PM ET/PT.
